Dress up in costume, wear a funny hat. Hundreds of cars will be driving by as we do this.

It won't take long. Less than an hour, so don't be late.

The median strip is a small space to work on, so if many people show up we may have to split the work into different "teams" and work 10 or 15ft/3 - 5m at a time. There is a pedestrian controlled traffic light at 7th we can activate for safe access.

Where exactly is this place? Near the Wicked Cafe [click for map]

We are asking for $1 so we have funds to pay for the Meetup website, buy more seeds, supplies etc.

If you want to do something social afterwards, there are many cafes and restaurants in the area.

Oren and I worked together and were joined for a few minutes by Eric? and his son who heard about the event via the VPSN email list. Later Leslie, who lives in a building across from the site helped out. See pics for more details. It took just over an hour to do the entire median. We still had seed balls left over and will spread them elsewhere.
    •  What a great time. Thanks for organizing it Al! We seedballed a concrete median whose only sign of plant life were weeds growing in between the cracks. The median was 2' wide by about 100' long and it took us the better part of the hour to accomplish. Placing seedball every 3" on both sides of the median, we used a full crateful and got a nice workout. Got many strange looks from passerby and autos and even had a father a child to join us (a VPSN member to boot) and one curious lady. Oh...and the police...a regular car and an undercover drove by and evaluated us...coming to the conclusion that even if they didn't know what we were doing it wasn't worth their time to find out! Apparently Al burned the weeds in the median twice and only one person stopped to ask. Gotta love Vancouver. Hopefully we'll see rewards for our efforts soon. A seriously twisted site to even consider seeding. It will look great when it comes up. ~oren~
