Spring Herb Walk

April 29th, Sunday 1pm

updated location info:
1200 Parkgate Ave North Vancouver. Please meet at far (east) end of the parking lot. There are no big hills to ride up this time, if you're on your bikes!

Learn how to identify West Coast Native Plants in their early spring Dress. Learn what's Eatable, what's not, some of the Medicinal and magical qualities of west coast plants, based on Native and European Traditions.

We will start in the park where the 'weeds' grow and learn what weeds will soothe the sting of a bee, and meet some of the smallest and overlooked, but powerful plant healers.

Then we will walk down into the forest to seek out some other plant healers. Please wear appropriate footwear for a mild to moderate hike on a muddy trail. Also bring water bottle and snack if you wish.

As the group chooses we will either, 1. Talk about and practice a 'plant attunement' peaking with our green healers, or 2. Discuss gardening, healing, plant related questions. Bring your questions, and we'll seek the answers.

Many plants are just waking at this time. Discovery of plants may vary. Recommended, but not required, Book Plants of Coastal British Columbia, by Jim Pojar, Andy MacKinnon

Children Welcome, please leave Dogs at home.
Approx. time for walk: 1 hour, longer as group desires.
Cost: free, though donations gratefully accepted.
Come Rain or Shine, okay if it's a downpour we'll cancel, but just a drizzle and we're on.

Time and Location: TBA

July 29
Aug 26
Oct 7

    •  Thanks to Anne for generously giving of her time and knowledge. Let's go somewhere less "suburban" next time!
    •  I would have been nice to have met more people than 4, but due to the small group size, we were able to concentratre more on the plants and learning. Anne, you did a great job. Thank you again.
    •  I enjoyed looking at most of the plants whose names I didn't know till now. Hope to have sorrel in my garden (when it gets going). I'll stuff just about any plant into my mouth if it's not poisonous or got harmful germs on it.
