Please note the new date and time for this event-

The winter vegetable garden is going in. There will be a good selection of vegetable seeds for people to
plant. People can also bring plants/seeds along if there is something specific they would like to plant. There will be a few hand garden tools at the site but if people could bring their own if they have them that would be awesome.

There are 6 raised beds 20 feet long that have been prepared at the site. There are 3 rain barrels and there is a fair amount of straw to get the mulch pile started for protecting the plants through the winter and to help keep the moisture in the soil until the fall.

Directions - head north on Main Street and go over the Main Street Overpass. At the bottom of the overpass turn left. The garden is just after a parking lot on the left hand side. Look for the rain barrels and the straw.

Who attended?

    •  A whole assortment of veggies were planted - artichokes, kale, chard, mesclun mix, lettuce, spinach, green onions, leeks, broccoli, borage, brussel sprouts, broad beans, corn salad, etc. Space has been left in the centre of the garden beds for a hexagonal shaped garden box. If anyone should have some free wood of a non-treated variety please contact me. It will be used for this site or another. Just before we left, we exchanged names and info so we can contact each other. We're looking for volunteers to help water & weed. It was a good time and a big thank you goes to Kathryn for cooking up this garden. cylia
